Kansas City Plant contractor Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies is planning to trim its workforce by 84 employees, a spokesperson said yesterday. Honeywell spokeswoman Shaunda Parks said the plant’s move out of the Bannister Federal Complex and into a new home “necessitated” the reduction of the employees in late March. She also said changes in federally-funded programs drove the decision. “We’ve made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce at the National Security Campus (NSC),” Parks said. “Our move to the smaller, more efficient facility, as well as changes in federally-funded programs, necessitated the reduction of 84 employees in late March. We respect and value our employees and are trying to limit the impact by offering those in affected positions the opportunity to volunteer for layoff.” Honeywell will complete the move to its new home later this year, and it is expected to provide $100 million in yearly savings.
