HOUSE ENERGY & WATER APPROPS MARKUP SET FOR TUESDAY

By ExchangeMonitor

The House Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee will mark up its version of the Fiscal Year 2015 Energy and Water Appropriations Act at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, marking the official start of this summer’s energy and water appropriations process. Lawmakers on the subcommittee will have a little less funding to work with this year after the House Appropriations Committee set the panel’s allocation at $34.010 billion, $50 million less than a year ago. That could create challenges as appropriators divide money among the various agencies overseen by the subcommittee, including the National Nuclear Security Administration and the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management. The allocations are governed by a $1.014 trillion ceiling on discretionary spending established as part of a budget deal in December. The markup will take place in Room 2362-B of the Rayburn House Office Building.
