IAEA director visited Kursk plant this week to assess alleged drone fragment sighting

By ExchangeMonitor

The Russian federation informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that drone remains were found near the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, the agency said in a press release.

Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said the situation is “serious” when he visited the site this week.

The IAEA said it was informed the drone was “suppressed” Aug. 22. It was located just over half a mile from the plant’s storage facility for spent nuclear fuel.

“Preventing a nuclear accident in this terrible war is vital & attacking any NPP is unacceptable, no matter the location,” Grossi said on the website X.
