  • Carbon Capture and Storage got a bit of attention in the mainstream media Tuesday with a lengthy article in the science section of The New York Times. Reporter John Schwartz questioned if the technology can prosper under the incoming Trump administration.
  • Resources for the Future has a new blog post exploring the potential for CCS to keep coal afloat into the next administration.
  • The Obama administration this week issued exit memos from the heads of more than two dozen federal agencies including the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency. EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy touted new regulations on power plants, while Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz briefly noted the two coal-fired power plants with CCS coming online in the near future.
  • The U.S. Energy Information Administration announced that the United States is set to become a net energy exporter under almost any scenario by 2050 in its latest Annual Energy Outlook.
  • The global CCS market could reach more than $8.75 billion in value by 2025, according to a report issued Wednesday by Grand View Research.
