Feb. 15 is the new deadline for interested small businesses to bid on a construction contract for a viewing platform at the K-25 area of the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Site in Tennessee, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said in a Tuesday procurement notice.
The previous due date for bid packages was Jan. 19, according to the notice, published on SAM.gov by the Army’s Corps’ Nashville District.
Bids should be submitted by 2 p.m. Central Time on Feb. 15, according to the notice. The winner of the firm-fixed price construction contract will be “the lowest priced bidder who is determined to be responsive and responsible.”
Within two weeks after being declared low-bidder the contractor should submit a project labor agreement that ensures “no strikes, pickets, work stoppages, slowdowns or other disruptive activity for any reason” during the construction project, according to the procurement notice.
Last fall the Army Corps started the search for a contractor to construct a general-purpose building and viewing platform at the former K-25 gaseous diffusion plant footprint. It is a portion of the DOE Oak Ridge Site now deemed the East Tennessee Technology Park. The last of the uranium enrichment structures was torn down in 2020.
About 70 people representing dozens of businesses signed up to participate in an onsite visit held last month, according to documents filed on the solicitation.
