The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California is inviting national and international businesses to participate in preventive radiological and nuclear detection equipment vendor rodeo and capability demonstration events throughout the year, according to a notice posted this week.
Each vendor will give a closed-door briefing of technical capabilities and showcase technologies with law enforcement and public safety applications during the capability demonstration event, the lab said. The equipment rodeo will be open to all vendors offering relevant equipment and will involve vendor displays and equipment stations.
“These events help operational planners and end-users become familiar with the range of PRND capabilities and options available on the current market, better informing them of the technologies best suited for their specific applications and budgets,” the notice says.
Capability and equipment demonstrations will include personal radiation detectors, radioisotope identification devices, gamma and neutron detection backpacks, mobile radiation detection systems, portable and stationary portals, detector communication systems, and other technologies. While the capability demonstration briefings may cover equipment under development, the equipment rodeos feature technologies already to market.
State and local agencies with radiation detection roles are also invited. These include law enforcement, fire and emergency response, bomb squads, and the National Guard.
The events are not open to the public and no schedule of events has been made available. Parties interested in participating must send a written statement of interest within 30 days from the date of the June 22 announcement to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Industrial Partnerships Office (Attn: FBO 318-16); P.O. Box 808, L-795, Livermore, CA, 94551.
