Lockheed Martin Wins $601 Million In Trident II D5 Support

By ExchangeMonitor

The Navy on March 19 awarded Lockheed Martin a $601 million modification to exercise contract options for submarine-launched ballistic missile Trident II D5 production and deployed systems support.

The work will mostly be performed in Magna, Utah (33.5%); Sunnyvale, Calif. (13.7%; Denver (10.6%); Cape Canaveral, Fla. (6.9%); and other various locations. It is expected to be finished by September 2024.

The Trident II D5 nuclear-armed missiles are deployed on Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines.

Obligated funding for this work is split among $499 million in fiscal 2021 Navy weapons procurement, $93 million in United Kingdom funds, and $500,000 in incremental fiscal 2020 Navy research and development accounts, with none set to expire at the end of this fiscal year.

The contract was awarded on a sole-source basis.

The Navy last September awarded Lockheed Martin a $495 million modification for this contract.
