Looking Ahead

By ExchangeMonitor

Here’s a look at the events we will be keeping an eye on this week:

  • Lt. Gen. Stephen Wilson, the commander of U.S. Global Strike Command, will speak at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Air Force Association Boardroom at 1501 Lee Highway in Arlington, Va. The speech is part of the Peter Huessy Congressional Breakfast Seminar Series.
  • The Senate Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee will hold a closed briefing on U.S. nuclear deterrence policy at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Capitol Visitor Center. Former Obama Administration White House Coordinator for Arms Control and Weapons of Mass Destruction Gary Samore, the Executive Director for Research at Harvard’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, will brief the subcommittee along with National Institute for Public Policy President Keith Payne and Yale Management and Political Science Professor Paul Bracken.
  • As part of an environmental assessment, the Department of Energy is holding a public meeting this week on plans to process 900 kilograms of U.S.-origin highly enriched uranium from Germany at the Savannah River Site’s H-Canyon. DOE will hold the public meeting on the scope of the environmental assessment study Tuesday in North Augusta, S.C., and public comments will be accepted through July 21.
