Looking Ahead

It looks to be an active week for earnings announcements in the defense sector. First, Lockheed Martin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday will conduct an earnings call to discuss Fiscal Year 2014 full-year and Fourth Quarter earnings. General Dynamics at 9 a.m. on Wednesday will webcast its earnings for FY 2014, and Raytheon will announce its earnings at 9 a.m. Thursday. Northrop Grumman will hold a conference call to discuss FY 2014 Year-End and Fourth Quarter earnings at noon on Thursday.
 
Here’s other events we’ll be following this week: 
  • ATK stockholders will meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday regarding the company’s planned merger with Orbital Sciences.
  • At 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Gen. Ray Odierno, Army Chief of Staff; Adm. Jonathan Greenert, Chief of Naval Operations; Gen. Mark Welsh, Air Force Chief of Staff; and Gen. Joseph Dunford, Commandant of the Marine Corps, will testify before a full Senate Armed Services Committee hearing regarding the impact of the 2011 Budget Control Act and sequestration on national security.
  • The Project for the Study of the 21st Century think tank will host a panel discussion titled “Avoiding Disaster in a New Era of Superpower Tension” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, at the FHI Conference Center in Washington. Joshua Marcuse, member of the international advisory group for PS21, will moderate a panel with Nikolas Gvosdev, professor of national security studies at the U.S. Naval War College; Fiona Hill, Director of the Centre for the U.S. and Europe at Brookings Institution; Ali Wyne, adjunct faculty member at the RAND Corporation; and Elbridge Colby, Senior Fellow at the Centre for a New American Security.
