Looking Ahead

Here’s a look at the events we will be keeping an eye on this week:
  • The Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management will hold an industry day Tuesday in Pojoaque, N.M., on its procurement plans for post-2016 cleanup work at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
  • On Wednesday, the House Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee will hold a hearing at 1 p.m.  in Room 2362-B of the Rayburn House Office Building with National Nuclear Security Administration chief Frank Klotz, NNSA weapons program chief Don Cook, and NNSA Principal Assistant Deputy Administrator for Military Applications Brig. Gen. Stephen Davis.
  • Klotz will also appear later in the day at 3:30 p.m. in Room 222 of the Russell Senate Office Building before the Senate Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee in a hearing about “U.S. Nuclear Weapons Policy, Programs and Strategy.” Klotz will be joined by Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Frank Kendall, Principal Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Brian McKeon, Strategic Command chief Adm. Cecil Haney, and Michael Elliott, the Deputy Director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Strategic Stability, Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate.
  • The Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee will hold a hearing Wednesday on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Fiscal Year 2016 budget request. All four commissioners will be in attendance. The hearing is scheduled for March 4 at 2:30 p.m. in Dirksen 192.
  • The House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee at 10 a.m. Wednesday will hold a Defense Department budget hearing, hearing testimony from Defense Secretary Ash Carter, Gen. Martin Dempsey, Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Pentagon Comptroller Mike McCord.
  • On Wednesday, the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management is scheduled to hold a business forum at DOE headquarters from 1-3 p.m.
