Three days, four markups. It’s going to be a busy week on Capitol Hill, but when it’s over, the budget picture for the National Nuclear Security Administration and the Department of Energy will be a lot more clear. Here’s a look at the key events this week:
- Gary Samore, the White House Coordinator for Arms Control and Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism, will appear at 8 a.m. April 24 at the Breakfast Series at Capitol Hill Club.
- On April 24, the Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee is set to mark up its version of the FY 2013 Energy and Water Appropriations bill. The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in Room 192 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington.
- On April 25, the full House Appropriations Committee is scheduled to mark up the FY 2013 Energy and Water Appropriations Act. The hearing is scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. in Room 2359 of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington.
- On April 26, the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee is scheduled to mark up its portion of the FY 2013 Defense Authorization Act. The hearing is scheduled to be held at 1:30 p.m. in Room 2212 of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington.
- The full Senate Appropriations Committee is expected to mark up the FY 2013 Energy and Water Appropriations Act April 26 at a time that is still to be determined.
- Kathleen Hicks, the Obama Administration’s nominee to be Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, will appear before the Senate Armed Services Committee for her confirmation hearing at 9:30 a.m. on April 26 in Room G50 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
