LOOKING AHEAD

Here’s a look a key events we’ll be keeping an eye on this week: 

  • Acting Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Rose Gottemoeller will be the keynote speaker at the Arms Control Association’s annual meeting today at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • The Stimson Center will release a new study, “Resolving Ambiguity: Costing Nuclear Weapons,” on how much the United States spends on nuclear weapons every year at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at its offices at 1111 19th St., NW, 12th Floor, Washington, D.C.
  • The Energy Facility Contractors Group is scheduled to hold its annual meeting June 5-7 in Washington. Among those scheduled to speak are Reps. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) and Michael Turner (R-Ohio), NRC Commissioner William Ostendorff, DOE Senior Advisor for Environmental Management David Huizenga, NNSA Principal Deputy Administrator Neile Miller and Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board Chairman Peter Winokur.   • Rep. Michael Turner (R-Ohio), the chairman of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee and the author of NNSA reform language in the FY2013 Defense Authorization Act, will speak about “HASC Perspectives on Strategic Issues” at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Capitol Hill Club.
