Here are some events we’re following this week:
- Today the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be holding a conference call from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to discuss issues related to salt waste disposal at the Savannah River Site.
- The NAS Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board is scheduled to hold a meeting May 30. Among those scheduled to present at the meeting is Mary Neu, chief scientist in the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management, who will speak on future plans for the DOE cleanup program; and Jeff Chamberlin, deputy director of the Office of European and African Threat Reduction, National Nuclear Security Administration, who will speak on the status of the Global Threat Reduction Initiative. The meeting is scheduled to be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at 20 F Street, NW. in Washington, D.C.
- On May 31, the House Energy and Commerce Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on Nuclear Regulatory Commission Policy and Governance Oversight. All five NRC commissioners, including outgoing Chairman Gregory Jaczko, are scheduled to testify. The hearing is scheduled to be held in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building beginning at 10 a.m.
