Amid the furor over last weekend’s security breach at the Y-12 National Security Complex, bidders for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s combined Oak Ridge/Y-12/Pantex protective force contract will submit bids by Friday’s 12 PM Mountain Time deadline. Among the expected bidders: a team of Oak Ridge pro force incumbent WSI and Y-12 and Pantex incumbent Babcock & Wilcox. Also this week:
- U.S. Strategic Command is holding its annual Deterrence Symposium in the suburbs of Omaha Wednesday and Thursday. The limited-access event in LaVista, Neb., will include remarks from Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.), StratCom chief Gen. Robert Kehler as well as Pentagon officials Madelyn Creedon and Bradley Roberts in addition to dozens of other panelists.
- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a meeting today in Aiken, S.C., starting at 1 p.m. to discuss waste disposal at the Savannah River Site.
