LOOKING AHEAD

Here’s look at some of the events we’ll be keeping an eye on this week 
  • Perma-Fix Environmental Services is set to announce its 2012 year-end earnings today at 11 a.m. The call will be available at (877)-407-0778 for U.S. callers or (201)-689-8565 for international callers, according to a company notice.
  • USEC Inc. will broadcast its next quarterly conference call with shareholders and the financial community over the Internet on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The Company will release its year-end earnings report for its fiscal 2012, which ended December 31, 2012, after the close of markets today. The regularly scheduled call with shareholders and analysts will be open to listeners who may log in through the Company’s website, www.usec.com.
  • Several nuclear weapons experts will address “Sustaining U.S. Nuclear Forces on a Tight Budget” at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C. Speaking at the event will be the Stimson Center’s Barry Blechman and Russell Rumbaugh as well as Tom Collina of the Arms Control Association.
  • The House Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee will hold a hearing on funding for the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management on Tuesday at 10 am.  DOE cleanup chief David Huizenga is scheduled to be the sole witness.
  • The House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Tuesday at 3:30 pm titled, “The U.S. Nuclear Deterrent: What Are the Requirements for a Strong Deterrent In an Era of Defense Sequester?” Andrew Krepinevich of the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments and Keith Payne, the director of the National Institute for Public Policy, will testify at the hearing in Room 2212 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
  • The House Appropriations Energy and Water Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Wednesday at 10 am on large construction projects at DOE and NNSA. In addition to Huizenga, the witnesses will include: NNSA Associate Administrator for Acquisition and Project Management Bob Raines; DOE Office of Acquisition and Project Management Director Paul Bosco; David Trimble, director of natural resources and environment issues for the Government Accountability Office; and Mike Ferguson, chief, Cost Engineering, at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntington District.
