Here are a few notable events coming up this week:
- Machinists at the NNSA’s Kansas City Plant will officially return to the plant’s production lines today. Approximately 860 workers from International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 778 went on strike for 42 days before agreeing to end the walkout Nov. 20; the workers went through reorientation training last week.
- The Obama Administration’s push for Senate ratification of the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty has clearly been put on the back burner, but several experts, including former NNSA Administrator Linton Brooks, will gather at 2 p.m. today at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington D.C. to provide a status update on efforts to secure the treaty’s entry into force. Also speaking: Texas A&M professor and JASON Defense Advisory Group member Marvin Adams, Arms Control Association Executive Director Daryl Kimball, and Jenifer Mackby of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The full agenda is available here.
- Comments are due on the NNSA’s Enterprise Wide Technical and Engineering Support Services Blanket Purchase Agreement Dec. 2. The draft solicitation for the contract, which has a proposed ceiling of $300 million, is open to companies holding the General Services Administration’s Mission Oriented Business Integrated Services (MOBIS) and Professional Engineering Services (PES) schedules, was issued Nov. 14.
