Los Alamos National Laboratory shut down some operations at its Lujan Neutron Scattering Center at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center after an incident discovered Saturday in which workers were contaminated with Technetium-99. The lab called in the Department of Energy’s Radiological Assistance Program (RAP) team after acknowledging in a statement that some of the dozen workers affected “tracked small amounts of Technetium-99 off-site.” The lab did not release details on the levels of off-site contamination, or where the off-site contamination occurred.
