Malmstrom AFB has announced that the military will prosecute a missileer in connection with an unreleased criminal drug investigation by the Office of Special Investigations. 2nd Lt. Nicole Dalmazzi, of the 341st Missile Wing’s 12th Missile Squadron at Malmstrom AFB, is the first missileer the Air Force has said it will bring illegal drug charges against. Malmstrom spokesperson Josh Aycock on Dec. 3 told NS&D Monitor that Dalmazzi will face two charges from the Uniform Code of Military Justice: Wrongful use of Schedule 1, 2 or 3 narcotics and obstruction of justice, alleged to stem from dyeing her hair to influence drug tests, which would have impeded the drug investigation. Her court-martial is scheduled for Jan. 21, Aycock said.
Completed in February, a report that looked into cheating on monthly proficiency tests also disclosed that two airmen at Edwards AFB in California were texting back and forth with 11 Air Force officers at different bases. The investigators found that the texts detailed use of drugs including ecstasy, amphetamines and synthetic drugs. Two of those 11 officers were stationed at Malmstrom.
