NDA AWARDS MAGNOX CONTRACT TO CAVENDISH-FLUOR TEAM

By ExchangeMonitor

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority this morning awarded the Cavendish-Fluor Partnership the new contract to manage the 10 Magnox nuclear reactor sites and two research reactor sites. The other three teams, which submitted bids last fall, include Reactor Site Solutions, comprised of Bechtel and EnergySolutions; CAS Restoration Partnership, made up of CH2M Hill, AREVA and Serco; and UK Nuclear Restoration Ltd., comprised of AMEC, Atkins and Rolls Royce. The award is for a new parent body organization to take ownership of Magnox Ltd. and Research Sites Restoration Ltd., and the contract is expected to be worth £4 billion to £5 billion in the first seven years and almost £2 billion for the next seven years. The Magnox sites are currently managed by EnergySolutions.
