Idaho Treatment Group’s new interim environment, safety and health manager, Fran Williams, will stay in the position as the contractor works to complete Phase 2 validation of its Integrated Safety Management System, the Department of Energy said late last week. Williams was named as ITG”s interim safety manager earlier this month, replacing Mark Wescoat in a move apparently tied to safety culture concerns at the Idaho Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project. “Fran Williams will remain as ITG’s acting ES&H Manager through the company’s ISMS Phase II Validation activities, as ITG seeks a permanent candidate. Ms. Williams’ proven skills with prior ISMS validation efforts complement her outstanding interpersonal skills that are improving communication between employees and management,” Danielle Miller, a spokeswoman for the DOE Idaho Operations Office, said in a written response, adding, “Since this is an interim appointment, DOE has not made any decision on fee related to this action. ITG intends to declare its readiness for Phase II validation in early June.”
