NEW NNSA ADMINISTRATOR TO VISIT CAPITOL HILL THIS WEEK

By ExchangeMonitor

Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Frank Klotz, sworn in as the head of the National Nuclear Security Administration late last week, will be making his first visit to Capitol Hill in his new job today and tomorrow. Klotz will meet with House and Senate authorizers and appropriators—likely mostly staff since Congress remains out until next week—for introductory briefings. “He’s interested in relationship building,” NNSA spokesman Josh McConaha said. “It’s a priority for him.” Klotz was sworn in April 17, nine days after his eight-month wait for Senate confirmation ended. Since retiring from the Air Force in 2011, where he finished his career as the first leader of Global Strike Command, Klotz was a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. Klotz will make his first formal appearance before Congress as NNSA administrator when he testifies before the Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee April 30.
