Newhouse Declared Winner in Hanford District?s Congressional Race

By ExchangeMonitor
After several days of a race too close call for the Congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Wash.), Republican Dan Newhouse has been declared the winner. Newhouse faced off against fellow Republican Clint Didier, a tea party candidate who had questioned increasing Hanford funding. The two faced off under Washington’s system in which the top two primary candidates compete in the general election, regardless of party. The Associated Press called the race for Newhouse Friday afternoon as he led by more than 3,000 votes out of 140,000 cast. Hastings has decided to retire this term after 20 years in the seat.
