Bidders for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s combined Oak Ridge/Y-12/Pantex protective force contract are getting an extra 10 days to complete proposals, though the extension does not appear to be related to the recent security breach at the Y-12 National Security Complex. The NNSA yesterday issued a second amendment to the Request for Proposals on the contract, clarifying that legacy defined benefit pension plans and post-retirement benefits should be categorized as Other Direct Costs by bidders when preparing proposals. Proposals are now due at 12 PM Mountain Time Aug. 20 rather than Aug. 10. The agency also indicated in the amendment that oral presentations would be pushed back to the week of Sept. 10 because of the delay.
