Technology provider Parsons announced Wednesday the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) awarded the company a $13 million multiple award contract for deploying systems for counter-nuclear smuggling in the Indo-Pacific.
The task order calls to deliver “end-to-end” support for counter-nuclear smuggling systems in 18 countries in the region, the press release said. Support could come in the form of project management, engineering, system design and logistics for counter-nuclear smuggling systems in these countries.
This is also the fifth task order Parsons was awarded by NNSA’s Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence, with one from March 2024 having a potential ceiling value of $1 billion.
“Parsons is trusted by the federal government to deliver on large-scale programs and critical technology solutions that advance national security, both at home and abroad,” Jon Moretta, President of Engineered Systems for Parsons, said in the release. “We remain committed to furthering U.S. nonproliferation and nuclear security goals by equipping international partners with capabilities to detect, disrupt, and interdict the illicit trafficking of radioactive and nuclear materials, contributing to a safer, more secure nation.”
