NNSA Extends Personnel Security and Clearances Contract

By ExchangeMonitor

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) will extend by three months its contract with Synergy Solutions, Inc. (SSI) for personnel security program support services, according to a justification and approval document posted last week. The contract involves personnel security program support services to NNSA’s 49,000 contractor and federal employees with security clearances, including "personnel security access authorization adjudicative and processing activities" and background investigations of cleared employees and applicants. SSI, based in Oak Ridge, Tenn., received several extensions since its initial contract award in November 2009. The latest modification, valued at $1.2 million, extends the period of performance until Dec. 31, which will give the NNSA time to finalize a follow-on contract, the justification says. The justification notes that "SSI is the only responsible source that can provide the required services within the time frame required" and adds that the NNSA is currently evaluating proposals to award the follow-on contract in December. The latest contract modification will not increase the $38.8 million contract ceiling price, it says.
