Acting National Nuclear Security Administration chief Neile Miller is sticking around at the agency a little longer than expected. Miller, who announced last month that she was leaving the agency, will now stay until June 28, two weeks longer than she had previously planned, NNSA spokesman Josh McConaha confirmed. McConaha said Miller was “asked to stay a short time longer” after previously planning to leave the agency June 14, though he did not provide any details about why Miller extended her tenure. The timing of her departure, however, could give Miller the ability to stick around while the agency finalizes its plans for the Y-12/Pantex procurement. The agency said last month that it would seek more cost savings information from bidders and reevaluate proposals after the Government Accountability Office upheld protests of the agency’s award to Bechtel-led Consolidated Nuclear Security.
