Northrop Grumman has received a potential nine-year, $508.5 million contract from the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to provide flight test and logistics support for remaining intermediate- and intercontinental-range ballistic missile targets.
The cost-plus-fixed-fee, cost-reimbursable and fixed-price-incentive contract covers flight test support for the remaining intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) targets in MDA’s inventory, as well as integrated logistics support for government-furnished equipment used in Missile Defense System testing, according to the Pentagon’s Sept. 4 contracts release.
The award has a performance period from September 2026 through August 2035, with work to be conducted in Chandler, Ariz., Corinne, Utah and Elkton, Md. MDA is obligating $8.8 million in fiscal 2026 research, development, test and evaluation funding on the award.
The contract follows an earlier Northrop Grumman effort supporting MDA’s ballistic missile defense targets program. In May 2025, MDA awarded the company a $25 million modification that extended the existing contract through September 2026, allowing the agency to avoid a gap in flight test support while a follow-on award was pursued.
MDA’s fiscal 2026 budget justification identified Northrop Grumman as the incumbent supporting flight testing of ICBM targets and said a new contract would be awarded for support of the remaining targets in inventory. The document said the existing effort included flight test support, integration of ICBM targets and integrated logistics support.
