The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has postponed its Commission meeting that was scheduled on Tuesday Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time at Rockville, Md. due to the ongoing government shutdown.
No makeup date has been scheduled, according to NRC’s website.
The Organization of Agreement States and Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors were slated to discuss various topics including state-to-state assistance and the states’ role in deploying new nuclear technologies, according to the NRC’s meeting presentation posted on its website.
As the government shutdown commenced on Oct. 1, NRC laid out a lapse plan dealing with the remaining appropriations of funds. Under the plan, many of the agency’s activities will be delayed or discontinued until a continuing resolution or year-long appropriations funding bill are passed.
The Senate will reconvene Monday at 3 p.m. Eastern Time is expected to have three roll votes, one being the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026. The House of Representatives is not currently scheduled to be in session this week.
