The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has rescheduled its three-judge panel’s oral arguments until Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time on challenges to Long Mott Energy’s construction permit application.
The oral arguments, originally scheduled for Oct. 6, were previously postponed due to the government shutdown. NRC published a press release on Nov. 20 of the updated schedule for the challenge.
The proceedings will be held virtually and will be open to the public through a listen-only telephone line. Call-in details will be in the near future by contacting Georgia Rock Georgia.Rock@nrc.gov or Sara Culler Sara.Culler@nrc.gov, according to the release.
The petitioner, San Antonio Bay Estuarine Waterkeeper (Waterkeeper), was certified for oral arguments on Sept. 16 in a memorandum and order by an Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (ASLB) three-judge panel.
Waterkeeper filed a petition against Long Mott Energy’s construction permit application on Aug. 11. The local Texas gulf coast group has challenged the SMR application over safety concerns.
Dow and X-Energy filed the application to NRC on March 31 under Dow’s subsidiary company, Long Mott Energy.
