Nuclear cleanup advisory chairs scheduled to meet later this month

By ExchangeMonitor

For the time being at least, the Department of Energy plans to hold a virtual meeting of the chairs for its Environmental Management Site-Specific Advisory Boards later this month.

The online meeting is currently scheduled from  10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, Oct. 28. That is according to a Sept. 25 Federal Register notice.

Of course a partial government shutdown commenced Oct. 1 after the Senate failed to ratify a House-passed continuing budget resolution. Sixty votes are needed for passage in the Senate and most Democrats are resisting until some type of accommodation is reached on health care premiums for millions of Americans.

Assuming the current shutdown is settled in time, the virtual meeting will take place.

“Please keep an eye on the website for any meeting status changes,” a DOE representative said Monday in response to an Exchange Monitor emai on the meeting.

The session is open to the public via Microsoft Teams and public comment can be given orally or in writing. Those interested in virtual registration should contact DOE’s Office of Environmental Management by emailing emssabhq@em.doe.gov before 3 p.m. Eastern on Friday, Oct. 24.
