Orano Grabs Waste Container Services Contract in U.K.

By ExchangeMonitor

Orano TN on Wednesday sealed a contract worth millions of dollars to refurbish and maintain three radioactive waste containers, and provide other services, to the United Kingdom’s LLW Repository Ltd.

The total value of the contract was not released in announcements from Orano and the U.K. government.

Along with the container upgrades, the contract covers delivery of logistical equipment and other professional services for up to six years.

Further details of the contract, including its specific value, had not been made public at deadline for Weapons Complex Morning Briefing.

LLW Repository Ltd. is charged with management of the U.K.’s low-level radioactive waste repository in West Cumbria, along with LLRW management operations across the nation. The TN Gemini containers will be used to move waste from Magnox reactor sites to the Sellafield nuclear facility for storage.

Orano TN is the logistics branch of Orano, the Paris-based nuclear fuel cycle company previously known as AREVA.
