LATA Environmental Services of Kentucky, LLC, the cleanup contractor for the Paducah site, earned approximately 80 percent of its available fee in Fiscal Year 2012, according to information the Department of Energy released yesterday. Overall, LATA Kentucky earned $3,800,955 out of an available $4,727,674. LATA Kentucky’s fee included approximately $1.5 million out of an available $1.89 million in award fee, with the contractor receiving an overall performance grade of “very good,” according to DOE’s one-page fee scorecard. LATA Kentucky also earned approximately $2.24 million out of an available $2.84 million in fee tied to performance-based incentives, as well as approximately $102,000 in “stretch” fee.
In its scorecard, DOE praised LATA Kentucky for the “significant improvements” made in the contractor’s overall Environmental Safety, Heath and Quality Assurance Program. “Quarterly trending reports indicate that LATA Kentucky is evaluating all aspects of the program, identifying areas for continued improvement,” the Department said. The scorecard also notes, “However, DOE also continues to question project management effectiveness during monthly project reviews, which generally results in changes to Estimate at Completion values and addition of risks in the follow-up meetings and reviews. More attention needs to be paid to activities that impact projects and correcting early negative trending to avoid adverse effects; however there were no significant deficiencies.”
