Pantex prime seeking source to construct high explosive facility, due Thursday

By ExchangeMonitor

PanTeXas Deterrence, the BWX Technologies-led joint venture in charge of management and operations at Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas, is seeking sources to build Pantex’s High Explosive, Synthesis, Formulation and Production (HESFP) facility.

The prime contractor posted a notice on sam.gov Jan. 27 citing the need for a subcontractor with experience in process engineering, process equipment installation and concrete construction. Responses were due Thursday Feb. 12.

The HESFP facility will be 98,500 square feet consisting of five structures that will replace “aging facilities,” the notice said. The buildings will be the main building, ramp building, staging and packaging building, blending building and chemical storage building.

Pantex is a National Nuclear Security Administration plant that services all U.S. nuclear weapons, and is the primary U.S. facility for nuclear weapons assembly, disassembly, maintenance, and related stockpile support.
