PORTS. D&D CONTRACTOR NAMES NEW DIRECTOR OF PLANNING

By ExchangeMonitor

Fluor-B&W Portsmouth, LLC, the D&D contractor for the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, has named Arnie Whipple to serve as Director of Planning & Site Wide Integration, effective May 30. Whipple will replace Dennis Nixon, who is taking “early retirement,” according to a message sent to employees yesterday. “Dennis has been part of the PORTS D&D Project since 2009 having served as capture manager and was a part of the Fluor-B&W Portsmouth transition team in 2010. What was originally forecast as a one year assignment is now ending nearly four years later. Dennis’s experience, leadership, and friendship will be missed by myself and all of his colleagues,” FBP Site Project Director Dennis Carr said in the message. He noted that Nixon will continue to assist FBP “part-time” to help deliver information to the Department of Energy necessary to exercise the five-year option in FBP’s contract, which is initially set to expire in March 2016.

For his part, Whipple currently holds the position of Deputy Director of Planning & Site Wide Integration. “Arnie has over 36 years of experience in government and private industries specializing in project management, project controls applications, business management, and configuration management for engineering, construction, deactivation and operations projects. Arnie has exceptional knowledge of the project, our challenges and is also well regarded by our DOE customer,” Carr said.
