The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has accepted Three Mile Island Unit 1’s license amendment requests for its restart, according to a notice this week in the Federal Register.
NRC said in its Tuesday press release that Three Mile Island Unit 1’s, now known as Crane Clean Energy Center, restart license amendment requests had sufficient information for its staff to formally docket. Along with the docketing, NRC is also opening up the opportunity to intervene with Constellation Energy’s amendment request. .
The hearing opportunity covers license amendment requests filed by Constellation from July 2025 to October 2025. The filing deadline for comments is March 26, while the opportunity to intervene is due April 27.
A March 5 Energy Communities Alliance (ECA) webinar will focus on how private companies and communities can partner to host one of the Department of Energy’s nuclear energy lifecycle campuses.
In an online meeting description, ECA said the discussion will be centered on exploring different models and how public-private partnerships can help proposals, reduce risk and build local support. The panelists will be Town of Ashford Supervisor John Pfeffer, Oklo Chief Legal and Strategy Officer Bill Goodwin, Deep Isolation Advisor John Raymont and Orano USA Vice President of Communications Curtis Roberts.
ECA’s webinar, the fifth one in its winter series of webinars, will occur from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time on March 5. The webinar is also the updated version of its originally planned discussion of co-locating waste storage and advanced nuclear fuel facilities.
Amentum will move its headquarters from Chantilly, Va. to Reston in early 2027, the company announced Feb. 19.
The nuclear engineering and technology solutions said it has signed a lease for 45,000-square-feet of office space at 1900 Reston Metro Plaza, according to its press release. The sixteen-story building is certified to meet modern energy efficiency and environmental standards and was designed by architect Helmut Jahn.
Amentum relocated to Northern Virginia in February 2023 after being headquartered in Germantown, Md. for a handful of years.
