SAVANNAH RIVER CONTRACTOR SEEKS VENDOR TO BUILD FABRICATION SHOP

By ExchangeMonitor

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions is considering establishing a machine and fabrication facility near the Savannah River Site. The site management-and-operations contractor released an Expression of Interest yesterday seeking a vendor interested in developing the facility, and states that a potential site is located next to SRS at the South Carolina Advance Technology Park. “Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) is evaluating the opportunity to privatize machining, fabrication and welding shop services. The purpose of this inquiry is to determine market place interest and qualifications for development and operation of a machine and fabrication facility within the immediate vicinity of the Savannah River Site (SRS) boundary,” the notice states. The subcontract is expected to initially run for five years and total 20,000 to 25,000 hours per year. The company must have a program in accordance to the Nuclear Quality Assurance 1 requirements and a “welding program that complies with a national standard.” Responses are due July 11.
