Senate Armed Services to hear from nuclear weapons officials

The Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces will hear testimony Tuesday on Department of Energy defense activities and Department of Defense nuclear weapons programs while reviewing the fiscal 2026 defense authorization request.

The hearing is scheduled to start on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. Eastern Time in Russel Senate Office Building, room 222. The witnesses include: 

  • James McConnell, acting principal deputy administrator for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
  • Roger Jarrell, principal deputy assistant secretary for Environmental Management
  • Navy Adm. William Houston, director of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program
  • Brandi Vann, performing duties of assistant secretary of defense for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense Programs
  • David Hoagland, acting deputy administrator for Defense Programs at NNSA
  • Gen. Thomas Bussiere, commander of the Air Force Global Strike Command
  • Vice Admiral Johnny Wolfe, director for Strategic Systems Programs at the Navy.
