The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will consider the nomination of Douglas Weaver to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission during a Wednesday business meeting.
The panel is expected to vote on the Weaver NRC nomination as well as the nomination of Lee Beaman to be a member of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) board of directors during a business meeting Wednesday Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time.
The committee vote will come a week after Weaver testified before the senators. In his testimony, Weaver pledged to prioritize safety and maintain NRC’s independence.
If confirmed by a full Senate vote, then Weaver will serve the remainder of former commissioner Annie Caputo, which is set to expire on June 30, 2026. Caputo officially resigned from NRC in early August.
