SRNL Names Members of Team Examining Hanford Tank Vapor Concerns

By ExchangeMonitor
The Savannah River National Laboratory yesterday released information on the members of a panel assembled to examine the chemical vapors program at the Hanford tank farms. The SRNL study was commissioned amid new concerns over worker exposure to hazardous vapors at the Hanford tank farms; according to recent media reports at least 37 workers have undergone medical evaluations for vapor exposure in the past four months. Leading the SRNL effort is Senior Advisory Scientist Bill Wilmarth, who has more than 15 years of experience in high-level waste storage and processing, according to a lab release.

The team’s Vice-Chairman is Andrew Maier, associate professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine’s Department of Environmental Health. Other team members include:
  • Tom Armstrong, Principal Investigator, TWA8HR Occupational Hygiene Consulting, LLC;
  • Robert Ferry, co-founder, The TGB Partnership;
  • John Henshaw, senior vice president at Cardno ChemRisk and former Administrator of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration;
  • Rebecca A. Holland, a health physics technologist with 28 years of experience;
  • Michael Jayjock, Proprietor, Jayjock Associates, LLC, and a former Member and Consultant to Environmental Protection Agency Science Advisory Board;
