SRNS COMPLETES LAYOFFS OF 28 EMPLOYEES

By ExchangeMonitor

Completing another round of workforce reductions, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions said this week that it had laid off 28 employees. The site contractor for Savannah River announced the round of layoffs in October, stating at that time that up to 50 employees could be affected. “These are very difficult decisions to make especially during the holidays – but necessary for the continued health of our company,” SRNS President Dwayne Wilson said in a Dec. 6 letter to employees. He added, “We continue to face a period of substantial change and shifting priorities, both here at SRS and as a nation. In that regard, I expect that we will continue to be challenged to find better ways to do business, while meeting the needs of our customers.” SRNS is offering affected employees assistance through its workforce transition center, which Wilson said has helped 170 people find work.
