SRNS SEEKS ADDITIONAL VOLUNTARY FORCE REDUCTION

By ExchangeMonitor
Savannah River Site contractor Savannah River Nuclear Solutions on Friday asked employees to participate in another round of voluntary workforce reductions. So far 1,065 workers have left the site in a combination of several rounds of voluntary and involuntary layoffs since the reduction of 1,400 employees was authorized about two years ago. In a message to employees Friday, SRNS President Dwayne Wilson sought additional voluntary layoffs, according to a report in The Augusta Chronicle. “With the significant progress in accelerating work at SRS, and as we near the completion of legacy transuranic waste disposition, we will be able to allow employees to voluntarily choose to leave the site or retire,” Wilson said in the message. Workers will receive a week of pay for each year of service and can apply to participate between Sept. 4 and Sept. 28.
