The team of Terranear-EnergySolutions, as expected, filed a protest last week with the Government Accountability over its loss of the new contract to continue the Moab uranium mill remediation project. EnergySolutions is the incumbent contractor for the Moab project and will likely receive an extension to its contract, currently set to expire at the end of the year, as a result of time likely needed to resolve the protest. The TerranearEMC-EnergySolutions team was one of six bidders on the new Moab contract, which was awarded to Portage. The contract, which was competed under the Department of Energy’s set of national small business Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contracts, is valued at approximately $120 million over five years, with work to entail the removal of approximately 3 million tons of material to a nearby disposal cell.
