Here are some events related to defense and civilian nuclear matters that Exchange Monitor staff are tracking this week.

December

07: Business meeting, Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Consideration of legislation, including S.4064, to facilitate the development of a whole-of-government strategy for nuclear cooperation and nuclear exports 10:00 a.m. Eastern time. Capitol Hill, room S-116. No live stream.

07: Job Fair: The Department of Energy’s two operations offices along with major contractors at the Hanford Site in Washington state will hold a two-day virtual job fair starting at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The event is set for Dec. 7 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific Time, according to a release from DOE and WorkSource Columbia Basin, a job match site that is part of WorkSourceWA.com. DOE says roughly 10,000 people work out of the nuclear cleanup site. 

08: Court session: The U.S. Court of Appeals for Federal Claims hears oral arguments in Swift & Staley versus the United States sometime after 10 a.m. at the court in Washington, D.C. 

08-09: Meeting: Department of Energy/National Science Foundation High Energy Physics Advisory Panel. In person at The Doubletree by Hilton, 620 Perry Pkwy, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. Streaming online. 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Eastern time U.S. on Dec. 08, 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Eastern time U.S. on Dec. 09.

NEW: Via public records request, I’ve been able to confirm reporting today that a warrant has been issued for DOE deputy asst. secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition Sam Brinton for another luggage theft, this time at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid airport. (cc: @EMPublications)
