Here are some events related to defense and civilian nuclear matters that Exchange Monitor staff are tracking this week

15: Meeting: The Savannah River Site Citizens Advisory Board meetings in public session starting at 1 p.m. Eastern Time in a session being held at Crowne Plaza Charleston Airport 4831 Tanger Outlet Blvd | North Charleston, SC. The meeting can be viewed online at https://www.youtube.com/c/SRSCAB.

16-18: Meeting, University of California Board of Regents. University of California, Los Angeles. Agenda to be posted 10 days before the meeting. University of California is the lead partner on management and operations contracts for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos national laboratories.

17:  Meeting: The Department of Labor kicks off two days of public meetings at the Holiday Inn and Suites Idaho Falls, located at 3005 S Fork Blvd, starting at 9 a.m. Mountain Time. The meeting is on the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act for workers suffering from occupational illnesses related to nuclear sites. 

17: Virtual public meeting, Nuclear Regulatory Commission. “Regulatory Concepts for the Integrated Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Rulemaking Rulemaking.” The public may listen and participate online. The rulemaking combines low-level waste and greater than class C waste.

17: Hybrid Meeting, Northern New Mexico Citizens Advisory Board. 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Eastern time. 

18: Meeting: The Paducah Environmental Management Site Specific Advisory Board meets in public session at 5:30 p.m. Central Time at  the West Kentucky Community and Technical College, Emerging Technology Center, Room 109, 5100 Alben Barkley Drive, Paducah, Kentucky 42001.

NEW: Via public records request, I’ve been able to confirm reporting today that a warrant has been issued for DOE deputy asst. secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition Sam Brinton for another luggage theft, this time at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid airport. (cc: @EMPublications)

We have finally begun emplacing defense-related transuranic (TRU) waste in Panel 8 of #WIPP.
