President Donald Trump’s special envoys for Iran, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, reportedly consulted nuclear experts at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tenn. to prepare for a nuclear deal with Iran, according to Axios.
The article also said the White House is trying to reach a memorandum of understanding with Iran to end the military conflict prior to beginning nuclear negotiations.
The envoys consulted with around 100 lab experts Thursday, June 4. Some of the experts were also involved in removing enriched uranium in Venezuela, and some had traveled with Witkoff and Kushner to Oman for nuclear negotiations prior to Operation Epic Fury’s start.
The group was selected to participate in the nuclear talks, dealing with uranium enrichment limitations, disposal of Iran’s nuclear materials, and a verification mechanism to ensure Iran’s compliance, the article said.
