Uranium Energy Corp. CEO, founder and president Amir Adnani has been appointed to the World Nuclear Association’s Board of Management.
“It’s an honor to join the WNA [World Nuclear Association] Board of Management at such a pivotal time for our industry,” Adnani stated in a Uranium Energy Corp. (UEC) press release from April 17. “I look forward to working alongside my fellow Board members to help guide this transformation and ensure nuclear energy plays its essential role in delivering affordable, reliable and carbon-free power worldwide.”
The WNA, stationed in London, is an international organization that is interconnected with prominent global nuclear industry members and promotes and supports nuclear power on a global scale. The members of the organization make up 70% of the world’s nuclear generation, according to the press release.
Members of the WNA appoint a general manager and elect a 20-member Board of Management to provide governance and guidance in setting its policies and strategic objectives.
Adnani’s appointment to the board is outlined by a pledge from a large number of companies and countries that intend to triple global nuclear capacity by 2050, which he also acknowledged in the press release.
“The growing number of countries and major organizations joining the pledge to triple global nuclear capacity by 2050 marks a seminal moment, creating the most consequential opportunity in decades to shape the future of clean energy,” Adnani said in the press release.
UEC, based in Corpus Christi, Texas, is a uranium production company. It has projects based in Canada, Paraguay and the United States.
