US Ecology is scheduled to issue its second-quarter 2017 after the market close on Thursday, following the release with an investor conference call at 10 a.m. Friday.
In its first quarter, the environmental services specialist reported $110.2 million in company-wide revenue, down from $113.3 million for the same period of 2016. Net income likewise dipped from $7.5 million to $5.2 million. At the time, Chairman and CEO Jeff Feeler said the earnings results were anticipated, citing completion of some projects and an industrial and field services contract that was not renewed. He said business should improve quarter by quarter through 2017.
The Boise, Idaho-based company’s services include treatment, disposal, and recycling of hazardous and radioactive waste.
At the tail end of the second quarter, in late June, a federal judge blocked the planned $367 million merger of two of US Ecology’s peers in the radioactive waste disposal business: Dallas-based Waste Control Specialists and Salt Lake City-based EnergySolutions. The companies said within days they would not appeal the ruling.
