This Week: Nuclear Waste and Weapons Events

Here are some public events related to defense- and civilian-nuclear matters that the ExchangeMonitor staff is tracking this week.

Monday:

  • Financial results are out today from BWX Technologies for the quarter ended Sept. 30.
  • U.S. Strategic Command kicks off its annual Strategic Command Deterrence Symposium — it’s virtual.

Tuesday:

  • This is election day as U.S. voters will cast ballots on the presidency, the entire House of Representatives and much of the U.S. Senate, along with state and local elections.

Wednesday:

  • The Hanford Advisory Board is scheduled to meet online at about 9 a.m. Pacific Time.
  • Comments are due by 4 p.m. Eastern Time today DOE’s request for information (RFI) for a leased facility and services related to the long-term management and storage of elemental mercury waste.
  • The NRC’s Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation will hold a public meeting to discuss regulatory issues and other miscellaneous topics with the Nuclear Energy Institute from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET. Members of the public can take part via a toll-free teleconference. To access, email [email protected].
  • The NRC will hold a public meeting seeking comment before conducting a scoping process to create an environmental impact statement for the North Anna Power Station Units 1 and 2 license renewal. Thursday:

  • US Ecology will release quarterly earnings after market closure.

Friday:

  • US Ecology will conduct its earnings call with Wall Street analysts at 11 a.m. Eastern Time.
