By ExchangeMonitor

The West Valley Demonstration Project cleanup contractor CH2M Hill-B&W West Valley, LLC, is seeking a subcontractor to develop a plan for shipping three large radioactive items for disposal from the site to either the Nevada National Security Site or Waste Control Specialists in Texas. The packages include a 180-ton vitrification melter and two tanks weighing 140 tons and 150 tons, and are scheduled to be shipped between 2013 and 2016. According to a sources sought notice posted yesterday, the subcontractor would propose a route, schedule and a cost estimate for shipping to both sites, identify all necessary permits and complete a cost-benefit analysis for both sites. CHBWV expects the tasks to be completed within three months of award. Responses are due Oct. 22, with an award targeted by the end of 2012.
