The Obama Administration announced late this week its intent to nominate Janet McCabe to serve as the Environmental Protection Agency’s new Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. If confirmed by the Senate, McCabe would replace Gina McCarthy, who was appointed in 2009 to head the EPA. McCabe currently serves as acting Assistant Administrator, and has held the position of  Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Air and Radiation since 2009. Among her previous positions, McCabe served as Executive Director of Improving Kids’ Environment, Inc. and as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Health at the Indiana University School of Medicine from 2005 to 2009.  She also worked as Assistant Commissioner in the Office of Air Quality at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management from 1998 to 2005, and previously served as Branch Chief from 1993 to 1998.
